Seminar platform using TYPO3 Headless

Project type:White-label project
Agency:Bosbach Communication & Design
Sector: Specialist publishing house
Services: Technical design, implementation, integrations, operation, support
Technologies:TYPO3 (headless) SOLR APIs

Background

Several associations and organisations were to publish their seminar and conference programmes via a shared platform. At the same time, each organisation needed to be able to present itself independently – with its own domain, its own design and individual landing pages.

In addition to editorial maintenance, the project focused on the integration of existing ERP and CRM systems, as well as an end-to-end digital booking process.

Q3i’s role

The platform was developed in close collaboration with our partner agency, Bosbach. Bosbach was responsible for project management, client communication and technical coordination with the client. Q3i handled the technical design and development.

Challenge

  • multiple organisations within a single central TYPO3 installation
  • Individual conference websites with their own URL and corporate design
  • Synchronisation of event and booking data with ERP and CRM systems
  • Quick search across an extensive range of seminar offerings
  • A flexible, multi-step booking process
  • An API-first architecture that allows for future extensions without the need for new system landscapes

Solution

A headless platform based on TYPO3 was developed, which centrally manages all content, events and seminars and delivers them to various front-ends via an API-first architecture. Each conference is operated as a standalone instance within the platform: with its own domain, individual design and content structure – all built on a shared technical foundation.

We integrated the platform with the existing ERP and CRM systems via REST interfaces. A Solr search with faceting and extensive filtering options quickly guides visitors to suitable seminars and conferences. A multi-step booking and registration wizard clearly maps out even complex event and registration processes, significantly simplifying the booking process for participants.

Conclusion

The platform brings together several organisations on a shared technical platform. TYPO3 Headless, REST integrations, the search function and the multisite concept enable centralised management whilst allowing each organiser to maintain its own individual public image. New associations, conferences or landing pages can be integrated at any time.

“For more than 20 years, we have been successfully developing complex web applications in collaboration with Q3i. This long-standing partnership speaks for itself.“
